A day of historic railways and canals.
Start the Phototrip at Crewe Heritage Centre (entry fee) where old locomotives, signal boxes and viewing gallery towards Crewe main-line railway station provide opportunities to photograph trains and railway nostalgia in varying characterful conditions. Also, polish up those close-up skills on lots of small details. (Tripods allowed). Meet in the small cafe for a 10.30am start. In the meantime, find more about the Centre here:
Then about 6 miles to Nantwich Marina for a stroll beside a busy stretch of the Shropshire Union Canal. Hot food (including fine bacon sandwiches!) available in the co-located Waterside Cafe. Click the link below for more details. If time permits, take a short walk to Nantwich Aqueduct or drive a couple of miles to Hurleston Locks at the Llangollen Canal junction.
