THIS TRIP HAS BEEN POSTPONED DUE TO A POOR WEATHER FORECAST AND LIKELY BAD CONDITIONS UNDERFOOT. Lots to photograph in this old Welsh slate quarry. The valley contains a lake and small waterfall as well as derelict structures including a now very dilapidated chapel and iconic slate 'fences' - great ingredients for your landscapes! A walk up the hill opens up the scenery and takes you to more derelict buildings and some scattered industrial remains.

Meet in the Lakeside Cafe in time to depart at 11am in convoy for the short drive to Cwmorthin. The cafe is just off the A496 near Blaenau Ffestiniog, on the road to the hydro power station, Tanygrisau, LL413TP. Come prepared for the weather, wear stout footwear and, wherever possible, please car-share. The car park is remote so, if you really must leave valuables in your car, lock them in the boot.
